Microcement façades

You will achieve a decorative and resistant finish with microcement for façades

Microcement for exterior façades represents a very interesting option that undoubtedly develops a decorative product in that space where we also enjoy the aesthetics not only of the content but of the container. It is about having an elegant “wrapping” in harmony with the interior. This gives us maximum continuity, and an elegant and simple way to add image and design to our home or chosen space. It is like a visual aid or fit to avoid moving abruptly from the interior to the exterior.

In addition, its application is not limited to spaces that combine interior and exterior, but its scope is very varied, with applications also carried out in entrances, window recesses, slabs, or wherever a special touch is desired.
Our Cementec Ready-to-Use product line offers a special system for these outdoor spaces, thanks to its water-repellent properties and high durability, allowing you to enjoy a coating with high technical and aesthetic qualities for a long time.

Why use microcement on façades?

    • It is a product that achieves better resistance than many exterior coatings, as proven by the impressive durability and surface hardness offered by the Cementec Ready-to-Use product. It is designed for spaces where external effects can cause more impact or damage on coatings, since its high mechanical performance makes it one of the best microcements.
    • Rain and heat do not significantly affect microcement, nor do cold or unstable weather. Logically, durability outdoors is somewhat less than indoors, as the environmental impact is much harsher, but its high resistance provides the required characteristics to maintain its essence and elegance for a long time.
    • Microcement has water-repellent properties, something very important for this type of environment. This does not mean it is a completely waterproof product (in case of dampness, a waterproofing product must always be applied beforehand). But unlike many other microcements, in this case its water-repellent components ensure that it does not deteriorate due to water or other liquid products.
    • Therefore, Cementec Ready-to-Use is very resistant and durable to withstand impacts, scratches, wear from use, and the action of chemicals (as long as we are talking about normal domestic use). It is durable, as over the years it naturally enriches itself. This results in progressive strengthening of the applied surface.
    • On the other hand, when applying Forte Plus Finish, a high-solids polyurethane varnish, as the final part of the work, it is the best guarantee for maximum efficiency and practicality. This finish is designed to withstand and neutralize stains that may occur, preventing penetration and keeping the microcement in the best possible condition.
    • Therefore, Cementec Ready-to-Use is a very resistant and durable product to withstand impacts, scratches, wear from use, and the action of chemicals.

Advantages of microcement on façades

Ready-to-use microcement is currently the construction material par excellence. Not only because of the great decorative possibilities it offers, but above all because it is a very resistant coating and enjoys great durability among many other benefits. That is why we detail some of the advantages of its use in façade-type areas:

Its high resistance to cracks caused by temperature changes from sunlight or frost. Even so, we can never fully predict the behavior of the existing substrate, but we do know about the great flexural strength of microcement, which helps to neutralize as much as possible the movements that may occur.

With Ready-to-Use microcement we can eliminate problems of bulging and flaking that occur on many façades. These issues generally arise outdoors due to water penetrating existing capillary cracks, or accidental moisture generated from the substrate.

But one of its most valued properties is that it is completely waterproof, as long as its application includes the finish with our impressive Forte Plus Polyurethane Varnish. This increases resistance against any type of rain, snow or adverse weather that may fall on it.

Another highlight is the variety of colors offered. It is true that light colors are recommended for outdoor applications. Although the varnishes are aliphatic (prepared against ultraviolet rays), sun and wind impact may reduce the shade slightly over the years if the color is very dark. On the other hand, there is the possibility of applying a custom color, starting from 200 m².

The application can be done with a smooth finish or with water effects and textures, which will give a unique and very personal touch to the façade.

It does not require expansion joints: it provides a sense of continuity and harmony. Respecting only the joints that the substrate itself may have, the rest can be completely coated continuously, with no visual limit of the same material throughout the entire façade, regardless of its size.

It has antiseptic properties: it prevents the growth of bacteria, fungi or weeds.

It is a very clean coating. It requires very little maintenance and its cleaning is very simple.

Durability is an important factor, as its aging is asymmetrical with the rest of the building, always maintaining a certain uniformity.

Continuous design also on façades

The uniqueness of ready-to-use microcement cladding is the possibility of coating continuously without joints on the three construction planes: horizontal, vertical and oblique. Thus adapting to all areas of a façade.

In addition, it is one of the few coatings that can be used both indoors and outdoors, and in all areas of a home or public space, without the need to use another material.
It is a material designed to combine practicality and aesthetics in a single piece, values that are undoubtedly always desired in any construction material.

Cleaning microcement on façades

Our experts recommend taking into account a series of factors when cleaning microcement on floors. The impact on walls coated with microcement is much lower than in the case of pavements, since they are not walkable surfaces and hardly accumulate the same dirt. Therefore, cleaning will be very easy and simple.
A problem with many façades using other coatings is the streaks that end up appearing after rain or other weather conditions. In this case, the advantage of microcement is its non-absorption, so these marks will always remain superficial, and in our case, can be easily cleaned with Limp, our special neutral soap for microcement.

As advice, cleaning is always better performed from the second week after the application is completed, since the finishing varnishes need to complete their “curing” process. In any case, unlike indoor applications where it is recommended to air the room well to speed up drying, outdoors drying is very fast. After one month of application, when the microcement has acquired the hardness and resistance it provides, it can be cleaned with water and the product Limp.

Do not use under any circumstances abrasive or aggressive products such as metal brushes, sandpaper, acids, or ammonia, among others. Doing so could seriously damage the microcement façade.
